Objectives:
The
Oceania Net Group will assist in developing research and education networking
activities in the Oceania region
as well as facilitating research and education
networking activities with the North Asia Net Group, the South East Asia Net
Group,
Hawaii, Pacific Wave and CENIC and with other Net Groups as these are
established.
Scope:
- Holding relevant meetings and workshops to advance the objectives.
Meetings will be held at locations,
including at APAN meetings, as
appropriate.
- Engaging with other countries in
Oceania to encourage research and education activities, and collaborating and
assisting in
the development of regional and global initiative which will
benefit Oceania.
- Engaging with the North Asia Net Group,
the South East Asia Net Group, the Central Pacific (Hawaii) and US West Coast
(California and Washington) to develop a multi-gigabit, multi-path backbone
connecting the entire Asia Pacific Region
to form the pathways that will result
in the region being a major component of Global Research and Education
network-based initiatives.
- Facilitating and encouraging grid and
advanced communications services, advanced applications, e-science and
multimedia
applications for the benefit of educators and
researchers.
