Agenda of Manufacturing Sub-Working Group meeting

Objectives

* Establish a Global Design and Manufacturing Information Infrastructure
  (GDMII) to achieve Global Design and Telemanufacturing.
* Build Global Design and Telemanufacturing Centre for research, development
  and testing in the various APAN member countries.
* Address the concerns of Global Design and Telemanufacturing, which includes
  web-machine interface, data integrity, data security, scheduling and control.
* Develop design and manufacturing protocols for both synchronous and asynchronous
  group design and manufacturing with feedback.
 
From the first meeting a project has been formulated and the participants:

* Mechanical and Production Engineering Department (MPE), National University
  of Singapore
* Centre for Internet Research, National University of Singapore
* School of Engineering, Temasek Polytechnic

are actively working on the Telemanufacturing component to establish the
following:

* Set up a Global Design and Telemanufacturing Homepage on the Internet 
* Set up a Telemanfacturing link from Temasek Polytechnic to the Internet to
  ontrol FDM machine manufactured by Stratasys for Rapid Prototyping.



Research and Development:
  Research and development work is progressing smoothly to establish the
  testbed between Temasek Polytechnic and the National University of
  Singapore.
  Some of the essential tools such as whiteboard, Internet registration,
  automatic updating programs have been developed and are being tested.

Industrial Collaboration:
  2 companies have been approached and negotiation is ongoing.
 
Funding:
  A briefing has been conducted for National Science and Technology Board
  (NSTB).  A report comprising of information has been submitted to NSTB. 
   This will be followed by another presentation and a proposal in late February.

 * Rewrite and/or expand the objectives
 * Identify projects and collaborative partners
 * Map the milestones and deliverables
