- Following discussions in the last PC meeting, APAN Secretariat has
introduced two versions of the general schedule sorted by:
- by area: http://www.apan.net/meetings/tokyo2006/schedule.html
- by rooms:
http://www.apan.net/meetings/tokyo2006/schedule_byroom.html
- Review of Schedule
- Prof. Joo briefly went through the general schedule and asked for comments and suggestions from the participants.
- The schedule will not be marked "tentative" henceforth.
- ENUM BoF has been removed from the schedule after confirmation received
from the session organiser, Stephen.
- Revised NR program was received and its schedule updated on the Web.
- Planetlab session (one slot on Jan.23) added to the general schedule.
- Local organisers plan to reserve Hall A for lunch and breaks during the
entire APAN meeting as the hall is closer to the lobby where the sponsors
would be exhibiting. It is also easier for the local organizing team to
manage the payment and other things if lunch is hosted in the hotel
itself.
- Hence, APAN Secretariat was suggested to keep Hall A available.
Therefore, Next Gen. Applications will be moved to Hall B instead.
- Prof. Joo agreed with the plan but expressed his concern that seating
might be a problem as there will be a huge number of people during the
breaks. The local organisers assured that it won't be a problem.
- Prof. Joo suggested APAN Sec. put either a link or mark it as
"Reception" for the TEIN2 Launch on the general schedule since it is a big
event and also, so that participants know that it is a kind of reception
and everyone attending the APAN meeting is invited.
- Other program related issues
- Prof. Joo suggested APAN Sec. to coordinate with the local organisers and prepare the details that are needed to include in the brochure.
- Provide the necessary information to the local organisers for them to assist APAN Sec. in preparing the style of the brochure.
- Local organisers agreed to assist APAN Sec. in this and they agreed to print the brochures which will include information such as introductions/sponsors/logos/schedule/advertising
space etc..
- APAN Secretariat was also suggested to arrive in Tokyo for the
preparations, at least a couple of days prior to the actual commencement
of the conference.
- Other issues
- Prof. Joo suggested APAN secretariat to coordinate with the local organisers and set a deadline for the abstracts/speaker list submission,
depending on how much time it has left and how much time is required to
compile and prepare this information to forward to the local organisers
for brochure preparation.
- Prof. Joo asked Jacqueline for confirmation on "Special Plenary: Next
Generation Applications over Next Generation Exchanges". Jacqueline
informed that they were working on this and replied in affirmative that
they would be holding the special plenary.
- Next meeting
- Prof. Joo informed everyone that this was the last PC meeting before the
APAN Conference. APAN Sec. will, however continue to correspond with the
program committee and the organizing committee through e-mails.
