SMeet collaboration environment and its medical-domain application

Speaker: JongWon Kim / GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology)

Abstract: In this talk, to provide interactive tele-medical consultation, a next-generation collaboration environment is designed by bridging on-line and off-line medical services together in a place called as CMC (cyber medical center). Based on the CMC model, we introduce an example service scenario that improves the effectiveness of interactive tele-medicine consultations. Then, we switch to the discussion on how to realize CMC service scenarios by employing SMeet (smart meeting space) collaboration environment.

Access Grid deployment in an OptIPortal
Speaker: Christoph Willing / Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation (QCIF) and University of Queensland Vislab (UQVislab)

An OptIPortal can be viewed as a specific implementation of a clustered tiled display. The Access Grid is an advanced collaboration system, seemingly ideally suited to provide a collaboration mechanism between multiple OptIPortal sites. This talk will describe the components of a typical OptIPortal, as well as the progress made toward integrating it with the Access Grid.

Update on imCast (GLORIAD-KR uncompressed HD video transport system)
Speakers: Jinyong Jo / KISTI, JongWon Kim and Jongchurl Park / GIST on behalf of GLORIAD-KR HDTV WG)

This talk presents an update on the GLORIAD-KR HDTV WG development of cost-effective realization of uncompressed HD (high definition) video transport system over high-speed IP network, named as imCast. This time, we will discuss about audio-side improvements, support for DXT compression, and others.

HDTV WG meeting (chair: JW Kim(GIST))-6th August 9:00-10:30

(Objective) This meeting will discuss WG activities on promoting the development of interoperable network-based delivery of HD video.

- Reports: Member reports & HD video over IP technology update (ALL)

- Opencast - An open media encoding system (Andrew Howard - ANU)

The growing demand for downloadable educational content has generated the requirement for scalable media encoding systems. UC Berkeley has formed a group to explore and develop solutions for this space. This presentation describes the activities of the group and future directions.

- ANU iTunesU Experience (Andrew Howard - ANU)

The Australian National University was among the first group in the Asia Pacific region to launch an iTunesU presence. This presentation describes iTunesU and discusses building the ANU iTunesU site.
- Discussion on interfacing HD video with OptIPortal tiled display
- Discussion on the inter-operability and standardization of HD video over IP
- Discussion on HDTV over IP collaboration (all participants)
