 Backbone Committee Meeting
 Chair  George McLaughlin
Objectives  There are a number of activities currently underway that will have an impact on the APAN regional networks. The upgrade from TEIN2 to TEIN3 is largely in place, but the impending extension to the countries of South Asia will provide much greater scope and oppoturnities for collaboration. The National Science Foundation's solicitation for the next phase of the International Research Network COnnections program has been issued and some of the responses will involve Asian connectivity. Japan is exploring expansion of the reach of its R&E networking to South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The meeting will cover key points of these initiatives through a series of "lightning talks".
Target Audience  Anyone interested in APAN regional connectivity and connections to other parts of the world.
