----------------------------------------------- Ninth APAN Committee Meeting Minutes - Draft ----------------------------------------------- 2001. 2.19 APAN Secretariat Date: 2001.2.2 Friday 1100-1500 Place: Keoni Auditorium, EWC,University of Hawaii 1. Opennig The ninth APAN Committee Meeting was held in Hawaii, with participants from the following countries : Australia 1 China 2 Japan 6 Korea 4 Malaysia 1 Singapore 4 Thailand 4 USA 2 (See Appendix A for the participants list) 2. Secretariat / Fellow Program Committee Report by Yong-jin Park : - Francis Lee made an efforts to make a draft version 1 of APAN Bylaw. He'll send it to Sec to distribute APAN members to request comments. - China changed the membership fee from $1,000 to $2,000. Thiland newly paid the membership fee, $1,000. - Fellowship Program Committee had decided to support 29 persons ,but 11 persons cancelled their attendance due to their personal conditions. 3. Area/WG report - Technology Area meeting was sketched by Chul-Hee Kang. The 4 WGs had their meetings this time. Ipv6 WG: 4 presentatins were made, which are DNS with IPv6, Mobile IPv6, Status in MY, Status in JP. Measurement WG : As APAN became bigger, the time has come to recharter the WG. After the discussion, the WG got rough consensus that it should build up the measurement WG for public. Fortunately, soon, the OWDP will be fixed and this might be the good chance to start. Multimedia WG : There were discusions about Audio Streaming and On-line Multimedia Content Teleconference Engine in addition to target projects. Satellite-Internet WG: AI3 and ATM over satelleite, and Web Cache Project were reported. 4. NOC/Engineering Team by Kazunori Konishi 5 countries presented their updated status of NOC. Qos and H.323 were presented from Engineering Team. Engineering team is reorganized with 2 groups, Multicast and H.323. 5. Liaison Report - Transpac by John Hicks TransPAC Link was upgraded from 100Mpbs to 155Mbps in November 2000. - Update of Internet 2 was briefed by Heather Boyles 6. Link Status - Link Status was updated and will be uploaded in APAN Home page. - AI3 Extention was explained by Kitamura Philippines and Malaysia had new AI3 links. Vietnam, China and Sri Lanka will be linked soon. Link to HKUST is still sleeping. 7.Meeting Report - NLANR/I2 Joint Technology Workshop was reported by Kitamura. 8.Corporate Membership The draft of Corporate Membership was approved, revising MEMBERSHIP TERM AND FEE as follows: The currently established annual fee for Corporate Membership is $10,000. 9. Member Update The membeship of China is changed from Associate Member to Primary Member. The delegate is Jianping Wu, CERNET. Thiland is a new Associate Member, whose deligate is Royol Chitradon, NECTEC. The delegate of MAFFIN is changed from Akira Mizushima to Yukio Matsuda. The delegate of APAN-KR is changed from Yong-Jin Park to Chul-Hee Kang. 10. Future APAN Meetings The next meeting was finalized as follows: 2001.8.20-22 Penang ,Malaysia The future plan was decided tentatively as follows: 2002.2.4-6 Thailand(Tenatative) 2002.7/8 China (Shanghai,..) 2003/2004 Hawaii The next is a plan of Penang Meeting. 8.20 : Tutorials(full day) (possibly 2 parallel tracks) 180 minutes and/or 90 minutes 8.21: Workshop(Full Day) 8.22: APAN Meetings(Full Day) NOC/Enginnering Technology Area User Community Area Member Meeting *Remarks: WG meetings may take place any day. 200 participants ( 100 from MY and 100 from abroard) will be expected.
