APAN (Asia-Pacific Advanced Network) Workshop on Access Grid Training (tentative)

1.      Objectives: Provides tutorial and hands-on experience on Access Grid focusing on mini-AG to promote the wide deployment of AG in APAN community.

 

2.      Target: Researchers and Network engineers who want to deploy Access Grid

 

3.      Time & Place:

¦      2003. 8. 26 (Tue) at Busan Conf. Venue

¦      (OPTIONAL) AG full node visits (KISTI, K-JIST, KIST?) on 2003. 8. 25 (Mon)

 

4.      Draft Program

 

¦      Session 1/2 (3 hours):

-         Tutorial on AG and update on AG 2.0 (Thomas Uram, Futures Lab/ANL)

 

¦      Session 3 (1.5 hours):

-         Mini-AG setup and deployment with hands-on experience (JongWon Kim/K-JIST, collaborating with other AG sites)

 

¦      Session 4 (1.5 hours):

-         Status report presentation for each country's AG activities (Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand,  Australia...)

-         Panel discussion on deployment coordination in APAN and others topics

 

- Korea: JungHoon Moon at KISTI

- Japan: Kazuyuki Shudo at AIST

- Thailand: Putchong Uthayopas at Kasetasrt Univ.

- Austrailia:  Markus Buchhorn at ANU

- China:  Kai Nan at CNIC/CAS

- Taiwan: Kevin Chang at NCHC

 

5.      Schedule

¦      March: Finalize workshop proposal to APAN Busan meeting committee.

¦      April: Presenter recruitment and decision (ANL, APAN people)

¦      May-June: Advertisement & mini-AG buildup (portable type, KISTI, K-JIST)

¦      July: On-line AG meeting among APAN AG sites for preparation

¦      August: Workshop

 

 

 

6.      Budget Plan

¦      Invited ANL AG expert (sponsored by KISTI)

¦      APAN AG Participant in need of support (sponsored by APAN support  program OR remote presentation via AG (or H.323)

¦      Facility arrangement

 

7.      Special arrangement:

¦      Multicast-enable network with minimum 100Mbps connection

¦      Screen and projector support (3 displays for each AG)

¦      On-site Mini-AG systems: two or more (to be arranged by KISTI, K-JIST, and others)

 

8.      Remark

-         Try to let selected room to be AG-enabled throughout the Busan meeting.

-         (OPTIONAL) AG full node visits (KISTI) on 2003. 8. 25 (Mon) can cover full AG node and CAVE(SeeMore) in KISTI, full AG node and 3D display env.  in K-JIST
