Title: BoF : APAN Network Security Workshop(Draft One)
 

1. Objectives
1) Find & Discuss security issues exist in APAN
2) Propose forming a standing group or task force to formulate the
security policies on APAN based on the security issues on APAN.
3) Deployment of security measures onto the APAN to protect from future attacks

2. Target : Representative from network administration department from each participating country. (Not restricted)

3. Time :  Tentatively 25 August 2003 (1400)

4. Place: a room at APAN Conference Venue. (20-30 ppl)

5. Draft Program
1) Introducuction on the importance of network security (15 mins)
    -brief presentation by chairman on current security and other network problems like spamming and virus.
    -Others??

2) Presentation /Case studies (maybe 2 or 3 )(50 minutes)
-Design on the DDoS Attack Detection and Response System by Manhee Lee from KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and
Technology Information)

3) Discussion (90 minutes or more)
- What are the current problems and security risks?
- Formulation of the task force
- What are the constraints and necessary resources needed?
- How can the group promote research of security risks and defense techniques within the members.
