1. Title of workshop (or BOF): "Tutorial: Build and understand a SIP Proxy Server" 2. Organizer/Chair: Stephen Kingham and Quincy Wu 3. Objectives: To get participants to build their own SIP VoIP servers with GPL licensed software SER . Each participant will bring a Linux/FreeBSD PC to this hands-on workshop and install necessary software packages to support them making VoIP calls between participants in the workshop. After the SIP peering for VoIP is established in this workshop, they would take those servers home and the VoIP peering would continue to work and hopefully become part of the Internet2 SIP.edu initiative. 4. Target audience: APAN Members to participate in SIP and Researchers wanting to get working with SIP quickly. 5. Expected number of participants: 30 6. Candidate session chairs and speakers with topics: Initial candidates are Andrew Rutherford - SIP Theory, IAGU Quincy Wu - SER Stephen Kingham - UAs 8. Remarks(including special arrangement if any): Room to be a horse shoe arrangement. Will need 40 LAN ports around the table with power. We will be bringing 20 IP Telephones and there might be 10 Unix servers provided by delegates.
