Meeting Minutes:
Dec 5 2003 (1330-1830)
1. Each participant gave their self-introduction.
2. Agenda bashing, see the updated Agenda, and see the list of all
presentation material(updated).
3. Prof. chon gave the brief introduction of APAN and some information of
APAN IPv6 Task Force. He also raised a question on who will do the IPv6
engineering task, 6NOC or 6Technology? and also he said 6GN is a nick
name,should have other official name.
4. Prof. Jianping Wu gave the brief introduction of APAN IPv6 Task Force. He
doubted about the router performance on IPv6 routing.
5. Dr. Ze Luo gave a short introduction of the IPv6 applications projects in
China. And Dr.Chon raised the questions: how to solve to the problem of IPv6
change and should we start a simple application, like HDTV? Dr. Seung Yun
Lee raised the question: how many applications can be carried on the IPv6?
Dr.Chon suggested to category the applications: E-Science, Video, others,
and listed all the possible applications.
6. Dr.Seung Yun Lee reported the KR's applications over IPv6
7. Dr. Yan Ma reported the 6Technology activities and issues
8. Dr. Seung Yun Lee gave the report of KR's 6 Technology.
9. Dr. Seung Yun Lee also made presentation on DoD report and summary. Prof
Chon suggested that similar document or policy should be produced by APAN
too.
9. Dr. Xing Li gave the report of 6NOC
10. Dr. Dongkyun Kim gave the report of IPv6 activities over KREONET. He
also pointed out the IPv6 routing performance of Cisco router is not so good
since its IPv6 packet forwarding/routing function is software based.
11. At last,every task force group (6application, 6noc, 6technology) would
prepare a review on their group and made a report tomorrow during plenary
session.
Dec 6 (0900-1200)
1.Dr. Mayan made the review presentation on Technology group. Esaki-san said
the IRR routing is important in IPv6 technology as well as network
management.
2.Esaki-san also said the Task Force should use top-down approach on
deploymant. Then Esaki-san, Dr. Chon and other particiapnts were discussed
about the DoD report. Dr. Chon suggested to Esaki-san to invite those DoD
representative to make a presentation on DoD report during Honolulu APAN
Meeting. They all agreed that there is no full IPv6 network replacement over
IPv4 network in APAN but both co-exist.
3. Dr. Xing Li made a review presentation on NOC group. Esaki-san said
multicast deployment should be placed as high priority in IPv6 deployment.
4. Dr.Ze Luo made a review presentation on Application group. All possible
IPv6 applications were discussed and representatives from each country
(China, Japan, Korea) were listed.
5. Prof JP Wu made presentation on coordination of IPv6 Task Force.
6. Then the base document (action items) homework were discussed, including
IPv6 Application Areas, IPv6 Profile list up, APAN IPv6 Task Force Plan,
APAN IPv6 Task Force Presentation for Brussel, and WG description (one page)
and Strategy Plan.
7. Then made the future meetings plan.
8. All speakers modified their material based on the meeting discussion,
which can be found at APAN IPv6 Task Force website.
